Miscellaneous photos from the trip in October 2007

View from our connected double/triple bungalow, facing the sea and Isle N'Gor (in far background). And the terrace lies about 50 metres to the right out of the picture (below). Could it possibly be better than this? Photo: Niklas Holmström
The famous seawatch (and restaurant) terrace at Club le Calao, located on the north-western tip of the Cap Vert peninsula. The photo depicts a gang of Swedish hardcore seawatchers counting passing seabirds the last hour before dusk! Photo: Niklas Holmström

This is probably how the passing seabirds (especially terns and Arctic Skuas, which pass close) see us, a bunch of seawatch freaks!

Fanatic seawatchers from Sweden looking for the rare "Jesus Shearwater" tripping on the water or... Photo: Clas Cronlund   ...longing for a nice three-cheese pizza dinner up-town from Calao?

The eight-headed seawatch squad from Sweden (left) and our friend (top right) making our pizzas or a "Brochette de Poisson" (above). The restaurants Sao Brazil or Katia (other side of the road) was our favourite place after a day of great seawatch! Photo: Niklas Holmström
Boarding the Atlantic Evasion's boat "West Marine" in early morning on 12th October. Right photo: Sebastien (left) scanning the sea while Clas taking a deep breath looking for cetaceans and Storm-petrels that may suddenly show up. Photos: Niklas Holmström

This might be like heaven for a seawatcher! The terrace at Calao is more or less the core of resistance when seawatching in Senegal (e.g. N'Gor area, Dakar). Calao (= Hornbill in French language) offer most of the best a "normal" seawatcher could possibly wish for. Kristoffer relaxing while others take the responsible of counting the seabirds that possibly will pass by;-) Photo: Clas Cronlund

Our friend "Alfie", the Hooded Vulture, are a very thirsty guy. Can I...

...get the rest of your Espresso? Thanks!

This photo frame the happy seawatch life at the Calao terrace very well. No need for more words about this place. Just imagine it yourself!
